The lady rounbdballers came home and re-discovered their shooting touch. And they inflicted their usual madcap defense on Brainerd – it sounds like the Warriors didn’t stand a chance. The basketball photos are all from the staff reporter. Super Fan Mike Shaugnessy was also on hand and filed a written report, which I for some reason posted in the previous post? Go figure. Anyway, Mike is on a major push to cover as many Cardinal sporting events as he can before he and Julie (also a substitute teacher) head south for the winter.
[Where’d the ball go?]
[Amanda C makes a free throw as the staff photographer adopted a successful policy from years of yore by snapping the photo as the ball drops through the net – thus assuring that the ball . . . drops through the net! 🙂 ]
[As with the hockey game, alumni visit to watch younger siblings. Here Angela Christianson (class of ’10), with her folks, where there for Amanda. Oh, and Ruth Helie Anderson (class of ’65) was there in the lower right corner.]
[Karly, with ball, as Dani races by.]
[Karly]
[Jess]
[Band director Greg DeGier, with Adrianne Wensman looking on. He appears to be holding a Christmas cookie recipe card.]
[Karly (very good!)]
[Amanda G hits!]
[Dani and Sarah double-team]
[Amanda C puts up a jumper – future Cards look on from the stands.]
[Fast start!]
[Inside Kohler’s huddle.]
[Kohler and Kalli exchange Christmas cookie recipes . . .]
[Karly and Jess on D.]
[Kalli lines up a free throw, momentarily blocking out thoughts of cookie recipes . . .]
[ . . . and don’t forget to use baker’s chocolate.]
[Dani calls for a meet and greet at the center line.]
[Watch your elbows. My big sister is watching in the stands.]
[I hope the staff photographer gets this as it passes through the net!]
[Yes!!]
[Then Karly cashes in.]
[Emily looks for a cutter . . . and I don’t mean for cookies!]
[The Cardinal football in the background is scouting for receivers!]
[Emily and Dani apply the ole “elbows out” technique against ole No. 32.]
[Dani knows it’s fun to be a senior! 🙂 ]
[This meeting of the Cardinal pumpkin pushers is hereby called to order.]
[Halftime. Impressive.]
[Hi Buzzy!!]
[Regarding that previous big sister remark, she seems to be distracted.]
[Ahhhh, last year’s basketball moms, returning now as Super Fans. From the left, they will claim Laren and Sam; Whitney; and Cara! 😉 ]
[The meeting of the pumpkin pushers is hereby adjourned.]
[Ms. Rodel-Olson, I presume.]
[Run like the wind.]
[Sarah gives it up to Jaylen.]
[Shoot, Jaylen!]
[And she did.]
[A 3-photo sequence of Amanda C getting fouled underneath.]
[Jess is back at the line.]
[Jess initiates the group sing-a-long of “YMCA.”]
[Then she continues the pestering D.]
[Gimme a “Y”!!]
[And here comes the dreaded . . .]
[Sideline trap!!]
[Emily, the designated inbounder.]
[HELP, I need somebody!]
[Sophomore guard Carly Dropik (51)]
[Alyssa (31) to Kendall (45)]
[Macy]
[Alyssa]
[Carly]
[Sophomore guard Gretchen Revering (54)]
[Sophomore forward Anna Lee (33)]
[Clap-clap-clap. Clap-clap-clap. Clap-clap-clap.]
[Clap-clap-clap. Clap-clap-clap. Clap-clap-clap.]
The very next day the district celebrated the retirement of superintendent, Dr. Terry Quist. Well, not that we were happy about it! 😉 And I don’t believe there was a cause and effect from the previous night’s game. 😉
[The media was there for “fair and balanced” reporting.]
[The Rainbow Strings performed at little or no expense for the tax payer.]
[My ex-boss (I’ve been term-limited off the Education Fooundation Board), Susan Scarborough, made opening remarks.]
[School board president Dean Anderson toasts Terry.]
[A teacher (sorry, forgot) roasts Terry.]
Many thanks again, Terry, for all your contributions to the school district – and the new high school, of course, will be quite a legacy! 🙂
More girls’ basketball tonight.
